Situation

A man (Ishiba-san) who is thinking of moving and his older colleague (woman), are having a conversation.

イシバさん：お昼、一緒にいいですか。

イシバさん：お昼(ひる)、一緒(いっしょ)にいいですか。

Ishiba-san: Can we have lunch together?

イシバさん：最近ね、引っ越しを検討してるんですよ。

イシバさん：最近(さいきん)ね、引(ひ)っ越(こ)しを検討(けんとう)してるんですよ。

Ishiba-san: Recently, I’m thinking of moving to a new place.

同僚：そうなんだ。今って会社に割と近いところに住んでるんだよね。

Colleague: Oh yeah? You live pretty close to the company now, right?

イシバさん：はい。職場に近いってことで言えば今の場所がいいんですけど。

Ishiba-san: Actually, yes. I live on the first floor of an apartment building, but this week and last week, someone on the second floor got angry at me.

イシバさん：そうなんです。ちょうど帰(かえ)ってきた日(ひ)、金曜日(きんようび)です。

Ishiba-san: That’s right. It happened on the day I got back on Friday.

Colleague: What did the person say when he got angry at you?

イシバさん：0時前だったんですけどね、ピンポンってやってきて、インターフォンで出たら「うるさい！」って。

Ishiba-san: It was before midnight when the person rang the doorbell. I answered the intercom, and I heard, “Shut up!”

Ishiba-san: That time, I just got out of the bath, so nothing in particular.

イシバさん：今週は会社から帰った後、ご飯を食べて洗い物をしてたんですよ。それも23時30分くらいかな。そしたら、今度は洗い場のところにある窓から「静かにしてくださーい」って。割と大きな声で。

イシバさん：今週(こんしゅう)は会社(かいしゃ)から帰(かえ)った後(あと)、ご飯(はん)を食(た)べて洗(あら)い物(もの)をしてたんですよ。それも23時(じ)30分(ぷん)くらいかな。そしたら、今度(こんど)は洗(あら)い場(ば)のところにある窓(まど)から「静(しず)かにしてくださーい」って。割(わり)と大(おお)きな声(こえ)で。

Ishiba-san: This week, I came home from work, ate dinner, and was washing the dishes. I think it was as late as about 11:30 p.m. This time, it was from the window near the sink. A pretty loud voice said, “Hey, please be quiet.”

イシバさん：特別うるさく洗ってたわけじゃないんですよ。しかもその人、見た目も恐ろしいんです。

イシバさん：特別(とくべつ)うるさく洗(あら)ってたわけじゃないんですよ。しかもその人(ひと)、見(み)た目(め)も恐(おそ)ろしいんです。

Ishiba-san: I wasn't washing the dishes very loudly, either. On top of that, this person looked scary too.

同僚：そうね。話を聞く限り多分イシバさんはそんなに悪くないと思うけど、何かあってもいけないし引っ越しもいいかもね。

Colleague: I see. From what I hear, probably Ishiba-san didn’t do anything terrible, but since it would be bad if something happened, moving might be a good idea.
