Hello! I’m trying to understand the conjugation near the end of this sentence in dialogue 2:
私、まだ友達できないもん
That is the tai-form of できる, right? Is it being used here to express that while she hasn’t made any friends yet, she would like to?
No, it has nothing to do with the ta-form.
できない is a negative form of できる.
友達(が)できる here means “have got a new friend.”
So, まだ友達できない means “haven’t got any new friends yet.”
Thank you for all that you do! I have a suggestion to improve the website. I think it is a bit difficult to get to older lessons. Maybe it would be better if instead of the “older lessons” button you could change it to be pages “1 2 3 4 5”
Thank you for your suggestion!
In situation 1, what’s the purpose of the あの at the beginning? And I’m not really getting the meaning of いてもいい
It is like a filter word. あの is used when you want to begin a conversation.
Thank you very much!
かってきて – go and buy? Sorry for asking so much questions.
yes. ~てくるmeans to go somewhere to do something and comeback.
And could you tell me please, what is きいてみな? Listen to everyone?
Hi! May I ask? I do not understand Is this a structure similar to perfect tence in English?
いったことある→ is a fixed expression meaning ”have been to”
just for reference, ”たform + ことがある” means ” I have done ___ before’.
“よく人の話を聞いてみな.” – is み as in 見る?
And could you explain the difference of よく and うまく?
I’m sorry for asking so many questions!
This form is used to make suggestions. Sorry, this from shouldn't be here in Level 1. We didn't notice it.
Thank you!
What’s the meaning of “いく” in this sentence “うまくいくよ” ? Is it いくas in 行く?
It means “to go” actually. うまくいく “Thing (will) go well”.
What is the purpose of the second て?
て is a contraction of いて which is the te-from of いる。This te-form ending implies that there’s more to this sentence and in this case, it implies the reason why she’s asking the question is that it’s been on her radar.
I appreciate the quick response!
