Situation 1
Haru and Aki are in the line for a ride in an amusement park.
ハル：私、これ初めて。前からあった？
ハル：私(わたし)、これ初(はじ)めて。前(まえ)からあった？
Haru: This is my first time to see this ride. Did they have this ride before?

アキ：最近できたんだよ。この前来た時、初めて乗ったんだよ。

Aki: This ride has just opened recently. I rode on this ride for the first time the last time I came here.
ハル：面白かった？

Haru: Was it interesting?

Aki: Yes, it was. So I want to ride on it again today.

Haru: There are so many people. Were there as many people last time, too?

Aki: Yes. There were more people than today.

Haru: Maybe everyone wants to try this ride at least once.

Aki: Yeah, that's true. So do I.

Haru: Me too. But It seems as if it will take a long time until we can take the ride.
- ～そう seeming that…; appearing that…; 元気(げんき)なさそうだね。You don't seem well; 明日(あした)までにできそう？Can you do it by tomorrow?
アキ：そんなことないよ。一度にたくさん乗るから。
アキ：そんなことないよ。一度(いちど)にたくさん乗(の)るから。
Aki: I don't think so, because many people can ride on it at once.
ハル：ほんと？
ハル：ほんと？
Haru: Really?
アキ：見て。最初よりかなり前に来てるよ。
アキ：見(み)て。最初(さいしょ)よりかなり前(まえ)に来(き)てるよ。
Aki: Look, we are a long way ahead of where we were at the beginning.
ハル：そうだね。もっと時間かかるのかと思った。
ハル：そうだね。もっと時間(じかん)かかるのかと思(おも)った。
Haru: Yes, we are. I thought it would take much longer.
- ～のかと I think that; may indicate assumptions, surprises, or realisations; 彼(かれ)は一人(ひとり)なのかと。I think maybe he's alone.
Situation 2
Sato and Tanaka are talking about what they would do if they won the lottery.
佐藤：お金、あったら嬉しいですよね。
佐藤(さとう)：お金(かね)、あったら嬉(うれ)しいですよね。
Sato: We would be happy if we had money.
- ～たら if, when: 終(お)わったら行(い)く。I'll go when I finish; when; after; why don't you...?: 勉強(べんきょう)したら？Why don't you study?
- 嬉(うれ)しい glad; happy
田中：そうですよね。最初に何しますか？もしたくさんお金あったら。
田中(たなか)：そうですよね。最初(さいしょ)に何(なに)しますか？もしたくさんお金(かね)あったら。
Tanaka: Yes we would be. What would you do first, if you had a lot of money?
- もし if; in case; もし雨(あめ)が降(ふ)ったら行(い)かない。If it rains, I won't go.
佐藤：世界のいろんな国に行きます。
佐藤(さとう)：世界(せかい)のいろんな国(くに)に行(い)きます。
Sato: I would go to various countries all over the world.

Tanaka: What would you do if you went there?
佐藤：いろんなものを見て、いろんなものを食べたいですね。

Sato: I want to see many things and eat many kinds of food.
田中：面白そうですね。
田中(たなか)：面白(おもしろ)そうですね。
Tanaka: Sounds interesting.
佐藤：世界には面白いこと、たくさんありそうです。
佐藤(さとう)：世界(せかい)には面白(おもしろ)いこと、たくさんありそうです。
Sato: There seems to be many interesting things in the world.
田中：どこに一番行きたいですか？
田中(たなか)：どこに一番(いちばん)行(い)きたいですか？
Tanaka: Where do you want to go most?
佐藤：アメリカです。
佐藤(さとう)：アメリカです。
Sato: America.

Tanaka: Why America?
- なぜ why; how come
佐藤：ディズニーランドに行きたいんですよ。
佐藤(さとう)：ディズニーランドに行(い)きたいんですよ。
Sato: I want to go to Disneyland.
- ディズニーランド Disneyland
田中：でも、日本にもありますよね。
田中(たなか)：でも、日本(にほん)にもありますよね。
Tanaka: But there is a Disneyland in Japan as well, isn't there?
佐藤：そうですけど、やっぱりアメリカのに行きたいんですよ。
佐藤(さとう)：そうですけど、やっぱりアメリカのに行(い)きたいんですよ。
Sato: Yes there is, but I want to go to Disneyland in America.
田中：なぜですか？
田中(たなか)：なぜですか？
Tanaka: Why?
佐藤：最初にアメリカでできたものですから。日本のより大きいですし。
佐藤(さとう)：最初(さいしょ)にアメリカでできたものですから。日本(にほん)のより大(おお)きいですし。
Sato: Because, it was first built in America and it is much bigger than the Japanese one.
田中：そうなんですか？行けたらいいですね。
田中(たなか)：そうなんですか？行(い)けたらいいですね。
Tanaka: Is that so? It would be good if you could go there.
佐藤：はい。もし行けたら嬉しいですね。
佐藤(さとう)：はい。もし行(い)けたら嬉(うれ)しいですね。
Sato: Yes. I would be happy if I could go.
