                                        Hi, I had two questions.

I’m a little confused about the usage of “ ってこと”.

Also, in “ なんでしょうか”, how does this translate to “ What would that be”? I read it as what (right?) which would make no sense.

                                        Thank you!

                                        > In “ えいごを話はなす場ばが欲ほしいってこと”, I’m a little confused about the usage of “ ってこと”.

(or Xということ?) is used when you want to make sure if you understand what the other is saying.
Usually, you ask that by rephrasing or summarising.
So it works in the same way as “Are you saying X?” “Do you mean X?” or “Does that mean X?” in English.

                                        Example:
Hey, about tomorrow’s party, I’m suddenly having a headache so…
Are you saying you can’t go to a party?

                                        > Also, in “ なんでしょうか”, how does this translate to “ What would that be”? I read it as what (right?) which would make no sense.

何でしょうか is a more polite way of saying 何ですか?
So it means “What is it?”, “I wonder what it is.” or “May I ask what it is?”
