In situation 3 “すごく楽しかったです”. Is it true that we can use either すごい(which is an いadjective and can also be an adverb) or すごく (which is an adverb only)?

Basically, すごい is an adjective and it modifies a noun.
Examples: すごい映画 – an amazing movie, an impressive movie
すごい技術 – an outstanding skill, an amazing technology

すごく is an adverb and it can modify an adjective or a verb.
Examples: すごく難しい – very difficult
すごく悩む – worry a lot

They are the basic rules.
However, as slang, some people particularly youngsters use すごい where it should be used すごく and say すごい難しい for example.
There are many such examples. People who cannot speak correctly start saying the wrong phrases, but others get used to hearing them and eventually they are accepted.
