In situation 1 dialogue 3, in the part ’4人も?’, is ’も’ used as an emphasis on having as much as 4 children? If not, I don’t understand its usage so could I have an explanation? Thanks.

This “も” is a particle used to emphasize when a quantity or degree is perceived as large or significant. It conveys the speaker’s sense of surprise or unexpectedness.

Stupid question, if てみません is the negative, then why is 入はいってみませんか?, “Should try going in?” instead of “Should we not go in?”

That’s not a stupid question at all!
This is a more polite way of saying「入ってみましょう」.

It may sound confusing, but it exactly works in the same way in English.
You use the negative form to sound more polite in English, don’t you?

入ってみませんか – “Why don’t we go in?”
入ってみましょう – “Let’s go in.”
