I think there was a mistranslation here inううん、特にないかな。ユリは？It says “No, not particularly. How about Yuri?”
ユリは？Shouldn’t this mean “How about you Yuri?”
Also I was wondering how people in Japanese would say the sentence, “How about you” and “How are you doing?” on the topic of How about, specifically?

ー I’m not sure what you’d like to ask.
As you can see, we add は？ to the other person’s name or the second person., such as ユリは？ when we want to say “How about you?”
I don’t think we say something equivalent to “How are you doing?” on the topic of How about.
Basically saying to someone “How are you?” or “How are you doing?” When saying hello to someone.
Like “Hello! How are you?” I was wondering how I could respond like that in Japanese?
Or if there’s another approach I have to take considering that English is Japanese communication have different approaches.
You said “on the topic of How about”, but do you mean you just want to know how to answer “How are you?” or “How are you doing?” in Japanese in general, not at all related to this topic?
Since it’s a yes/no question, you can just respond はい or うん if it’s yes, and if it’s no, you can tell them the reason.
Well when I came across the ユリは？ It made me think of wondering how Japanese people say “how are you?” because of saying how about_____ so the thought of asking about saying “how are you?” or “how are you doing?” came to my mind.

So the next time you ask a question, try to be more straightforward about what exactly you want to know.
Yeah sorry about that. Although I finally figured what I was looking for. It turns out How are you is usually used as お元気ですか? and How’s it going isn’t used often in Japanese. I completely forgot about that. But, nonetheless sorry about that, I’m just really bad at communication.
Well, お元気ですか？ can be said when you meet or write someone who you haven’t met for a while.
“How’s it going?” can be translated as 元気？, 調子どう？, etc.
As I told you several times, it really depends on the context and relationship between you and the other.
You don’t seem to care about it, but it’s one of the most important things to learn Japanese.
You can’t expect to know what to say without considering them.
Situation 1 Line 8: テレビでやってたなら
Why is やってた used instead of やった and how would it change the sentence if やった was used instead.
やってた – past progressive – They were showing (on TV), They were reporting (on TV)
やった – past tense – They showed (on TV), They reported (on TV)
The name in situation 1 is wrong, it should be Lisa, not Saki
