Question on Situation 3.
“また、夜電話してもいい” – When I listened to it, I assume it translated to something like “Is it ok if you call again later tonight” since it was Naoki who called in the first place. But the translation implies that it will be Kento who will call back at night. I guess my question here is what is my clue for knowing who would be making that call at night?
Also, I loved situation 1…. I can totally see that conversation happening somewhere for real.. lol..
You are right. It’s confusing. If I just looked at the text, I too would think that Naoki asked Kento if he could call him again.
It sounds more natural if Kento says 後で電話してもいい? or 後でかけ直してもいい?(Can I call you back later?)
※後(あと)で – later
※かけ直(なお)す – call back
We are glad to know you enjoy the conversation.

知る means “to know a certain fact or a truth as knowledge by information from people, media, or books.
