Also, I have a hard time grasping the concept of Te Form. What is the reasoning and purpose of it?

The “te” form of a verb alone expresses a request or instruction.
行って as in 自分で行ってよ means “(You should) go.”

In situation one, “なんで俺が?自分で行ってよ” Why do we use ‘が” instead of ‘は’?

> In situation one, “なんで俺が?自分で行ってよ” Why do we use ‘が” instead of ‘は’?

ー Because 俺 is the part that the speaker wants to emphasize.
“Why me (and not you)?”
(noun) + が is used when the speaker wants to express the noun as the subject of an action, being, or situation, not anything (or anyone) else.
