In Situation 2, when Susuki san said “こんな時間になっちゃいました” why did he used いました instead of ありました? I thought います is only used to refer to living beings? In the example, the context is regarding working being difficult or tough that day.

Thinking about this more, I think the -なっちゃ confused me a bit. I think if he said 粉 時間 に なりました it would be easier for me to understand 🙂

That’s right. It’s not なっちゃ + いました.

The standard form is xxxなってしまいました – ended up being xxx
Its casual tone is xxxなっちゃいました.

I have to say that some of these translations make no sense.

Thank you for pointing it out.
If it’s not too much trouble, could you tell us which sentences are unnatural in translation?

Hi, again.
Our team doesn’t see that there are any problems.
But we would appreciate it if you could point out the parts that sound unnatural to native speakers.

Oops, sorry that I missed this reply! And, I don’t think that I could find what I was referring to.
Besides, the translations have greatly improved over the last 7-8 months. I like seeing the direct translations sprinkled in, here and there.

こんにちは!

> What is the difference between 所 and 場所?

ー Both means “a place/places.”
However, the word 所 also has an abstract meaning.
今 or ちょうどxxx(し)た所 means “has just done xxx now.”

You can’t use 場所 in this usage.
