and its translated as: No. I still have work left.
Why does はい mean ‘no’ here?
It tends to be the opposite when you answer a negative question in Japanese.
It works like this:
Saito: Suzuki, you’re not going home yet. Is that right?
Suzuki: That’s right. I still have some work left.
